Sensenbrenner Primary Care was founded in 2004 by Dr. John W. Sensenbrenner after recognizing a growing shift within large hospital systems away from personalized, quality patient care.

Seeking a better way forward, Dr. Sensenbrenner opened an independent primary care practice in the Blakeney area that focused on time, trust, and continuity. His commitment to patient first medicine was clear from the beginning, with more than 85 percent of his established patients choosing to follow him to the new practice.

Over the next two decades, Sensenbrenner Primary Care became a healthcare home for individuals and families throughout South Charlotte and Ballantyne. Through compassionate care and strong patient relationships, Dr. Sensenbrenner established a reputation for clinical excellence and patient advocacy.

At the end of 2025, Dr. Sensenbrenner retired and confidently passed the practice to the next generation of leadership.

Dr. Emery Young Jr. now leads Sensenbrenner Primary Care and continues the values that have guided the practice since its founding.

Dr. Young is a Raleigh native and a board certified osteopathic physician. He earned his medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He brings specialized training in integrative medicine and a strong focus on whole person, patient centered care.

Dr. Young is committed to building meaningful, long term relationships with patients. He takes the time to understand individual health goals and partners with patients through every stage of care.

As an independent primary care practice, Sensenbrenner Primary Care is able to put patients first.

Independence allows physicians to spend more time with patients, make decisions based on individual needs, and maintain continuity of care. It also supports a more personalized approach to preventive care, chronic condition management, and overall wellness.

This philosophy inspired the founding of the practice in 2004 and continues to guide it today.
