Healthy Vision Month

Why Your Vision Matters

At Sensenbrenner Primary Care, your entire well-being is our priority, including your eye health. Vision is essential for daily life, work, and connecting with loved ones. Unfortunately, millions of Americans experience vision problems or eye diseases, many of which can be prevented or managed with the right care. July is Healthy Vision Month, the perfect time to learn how to protect your sight for years to come.

What Can You Do to Protect Your Vision?

Schedule a Comprehensive Dilated Eye Exam

Even if you feel your eyesight is fine, regular eye exams can catch issues early—sometimes before any symptoms develop.

Share Your Family Eye Health History

Some eye conditions run in families. Let your healthcare provider know about any serious vision problems among your relatives so we can better assess your risk.

Eat Nutritious Foods for Your Eyes

Foods rich in vitamins C and E, leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, and omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish like salmon) help maintain healthy eyes.

Wear Protective Eyewear

Whether playing sports, working with tools, or spending time in the sun, always use proper eye protection—especially sunglasses with UVA/UVB blocking lenses.

Practice the 20-20-20 Rule for Screen Use

If you spend long hours looking at screens, every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds to help reduce eye strain.

Avoid Smoking

Smoking increases the risk of eye diseases like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. If you need help quitting, ask us about options.

Manage Chronic Health Conditions

Conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol can impact your eye health. Keeping these under control with regular visits and recommended treatment is crucial.

When to See Your Doctor

Contact us if you notice:

Sudden changes in vision

Eye pain, redness, or discomfort

Spots, flashes of light, or blurry vision

Early treatment can make a big difference in protecting your sight.

We’re Here for Your Eye Health

July is a great time to schedule your next eye exam, invest in a good pair of sunglasses, or simply make smart choices that benefit your vision and overall health. If you have questions about your eye health, talk with your doctor during your next visit.

Your vision is priceless—let’s work together to keep it healthy!
