Christmas Morning Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of breakfast sausage
- 10 pieces bacon, cooked and diced up
- 9 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups of milk
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 6 slices of sourdough, tear into pieces
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded gruyere cheese
- sour cream, chives, etc (optional as a garnish)
Recipe:
- In a skillet, cook and crumbled your breakfast sausage and set aside. Do the same with your bacon.
- Add eggs, milk, salt, dry mustard, black pepper and paprika to a large bowl and whisk until combined.
- Add bread pieces to bottom of a 9×13″ baking pan. Top with crumbled sausage, bacon, and 3/4 of the cheeses. Pour egg mixture over the top, using a wooden spoon to gently push any un-soaked bread down into the custard. Sprinkle with remaining shredded cheeses.
- Cover your baking dish and refrigerate over night.
- On Christmas morning, remove your dish and let it warm on the counter for about 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm and garnish with optional sour cream, chives, extra cheese, etc.
